Inters 2009
Inters’09 - Alright Clark!
Was it going to rain, was it going to hold off, it was the big question on everyone’s lips. With last year’s show turning into a mud bath for the traders and wet quarter mile runs, Inters desperately needed a stroke of good luck to get the crowds rushing back to what should be one of the biggest shows on the calendar. There has always been mixed feelings for this show across the forum boards, I’m not sure exactly why. Not to sound too negative, It does tend to attract the ‘petrol heads’ more than the ‘scene’ whores, but that’s what ‘GTi’ International is all about, a place to legally test out the $$$ spent on your engine mods and pick up a few bargains. But whatever your style if inters was in any way beginning to suffer then it sure had a mighty good crack at regenerating itself this year.
Now with on-site camping being a massive success in my opinion Inters has the making of a top show weekend that NE will defiantly be visiting next year. It was better in every way, the show’n’shine was stacked to the borders with top class motors (congrats to Ewan for coming 2nd in concours), a good handful of quality traders, the club displays were massive, the quarter mile sprint saw some pretty unbelievable times and the onsite camping made it a very pleasant experience over previous years with excellent showers and shitters. Well done to Neil, sally, Paul H and the Team at Autometrix for pulling this off once again.
As for the NE crew, social antics in the late evenings were of a particularly high standard over the few days and a big shout out to all those who made it at some point over the weekend, and it was good to see a few new faces joining in the fun. From the start of our little pilgrimage early on the Friday where Tomos and myself had fun playing with big money motors on the way up and literally getting stuck into the beers with Lewis on arrival to the blast me and Robin had on the return leg it was all a good laugh.
Paul Haslam is simply a legend with his all his stories. We were all in stitches by the end of the night, Longleat Safari Park will never be the same again. I hope you make it to many more shows Paul!
Many a can sunk and many a tear of laughter shed, you are all top people and I love you all.
