May Bank Holiday Meet
May bank holiday gave us all an excuse to have an extended monthly meet in the form of a road trip down to Cardiff Bay. The later part of the weekend was forecast for rain but luckily it held off for a few tunnel runs through the Bute town bay complex.
Splitting the pack with half of us heading for the multi-storey and others opting for the Bay’s bespoke parking method of curb crawling, we all headed down to one of the many bay waterfront bars Terra Nova, or as some called it ‘Gayer Nova’. I have no idea why?! Anyway.. After skillfully placing several table watch posts throughout the establishment, all 16 of us did eventually find a table to rest our buzzing feet.
If you ever get to Terra Nova I highly recommend the 100% Welsh beef burger along with some pansy name I can’t remember for what was basically chips ‘n’ salad. Lovely! The only problem is you’ll need a shower after sweating through it’s entirety.. baking hot!
Fully refueled and still buzzing we all headed down to the Bute tunnel for a quick briefing on the afternoons photo shoot. Two at a time through the tunnels following Nicks VRS, a few test runs to get the settings right and it all turned out pretty successful. As the tunnels have a 50mph speed limit it was a pretty safe exercise shooting from the back seat of the Skoda, I even had a seat belt on I might add! Check out the gallery >>
By now completely wind swept after an hour of hanging my head out the window like a dog through tunnels, the convoy headed back to our beloved Port to catch up with the rest of the NewportEdition crew at our monthly meet. It was only then that the rain started, but didn’t dampen the days event by no means. In fact it was nice to have some rain for a wet look photo shoot in the carpark. A good day out indeed.
Cheers for everyone involved in the shoot.. not a bad first attempt. More coming soon!
